Basics for a tune up

What come in a normal tune up? I've never asked this until today when i went for one and it cost me a hundred bucks. They said that they do all the basics and re-grease EVERYTHING (he said it twice) and clean and thoroughly wax the bike (said some other stuff but if forget what they were)
What are these "basics" in which he spoke of? did i overpay?

i hope they didn't screw me cuz that's my favorite bike shop.

i ride a cannondale chase for the guy who wanted to know, and they did say stuff about inspecting the BB and headset and the wheels and all stuff like that

A good basic tune up - adjusting and lubing the brake system, adjusting and lubing the gear system, adjusting all the bearing surfaces (hubs, bottom bracket, headset), and truing the wheels - is probably about $75. A major tune up will also take apart and regrease the hubs, headset and bottom bracket (if not sealed) and usually pulls and cleans the drive train (cassette and crankset) and that will run between $100 and $120. The basic tune up should be done twice a year (or more often if you're racing or riding in wet/muddy conditions). The major tune up you can probably get away with once a year, but may need it more often if you don't have cartridge or sealed bearings in your BB and hubs and ride in bad conditions.

You didn't say what name bike you own or how much it was (new). A basic tune up (external) tighten all nut bolts etc, checking F & R brakes, checking F & R shifting, and checking wheels for truing. An internal check up is more involved, the head set & bottom bracket are taken apart, the front & rear wheel axles are removed each are inspected for worn parts ( replaced), solvent clean all the bearings, re-grease, checking the axle cones & hubs, all races & cups. It could cost you that amount or more if you needed parts. This should be done at least twice a year if your an active rider.

do all the basics and re-grease EVERYTHING

thanks - http://bmxreview.blogspot.com/

Sounds a little steep, did they have to replace anything ?
I wouldn't pay that much to have my car detailed.
