How much would a bike shop sell this Iron Horse bike for?

I am interested in a Iron Horse 6point4. The guy at the shop said it was $1999.99 and had it in stock. MSRP from the Iron Horse website is $2899.99

It is on Ebay for 1899.99
ebay item # 170246248687

what would a typical small bike shop maybe sell this for with cash?

well, I'm not looking for them to "match an ebay price". I see that someone selling on ebay is willing to sell them at this price as a "retail" price. basically, w/o mentioning the ebay price, I am wondering if a shop would take $1800?? or $1700?? I don't know the markup and what they will take. A friend of mine once got a $2000 bike for $1300 cash.

It's a good price. Most shops try to sell at the suggested retail price or slightly under if their dealer agreements will allow them to budge. Iron Horse has always given their dealers a little more freedom with pricing.

I'll bet your shop and the one on Ebay are liquidating their Iron Horse bikes at low prices just to get rid of the stock. Iron Horse recently announced that it will no longer sell it's bikes through independent bike shops. That's NUTS but it's what they decided to do. Instead, they're going to sell through one shop in Colorado (his son's business) and through that shop's online web store. So pretty much all of the Iron Horse dealers are miffed and trying to get rid of the bikes now. I read about this in the news and over the last few months I've really noticed the prices dropping on Iron Horse bikes.

Also, they lost their license for the DW Link, so if you're after that feature in their suspension, you'll need to look to another brand for '09 and forward. It's a great design and Iron Horse has always had good bang for the buck, so this would be the best time to pick up one of their bikes. Who knows what they'll come up with in the future.

Crazy stuff, but anyway I'd say get that bike now at that price if you want it. I wouldn't expect to get it for any less.

I dont think it matters if its cash or not. Its not a car. But 1999 is a good price. I was almost thinking about picking one up, but something came up. I thinks its a good deal for the bike and it comes with some good parts on it also.

Call the shop back up and ask, for the $100 difference the shop would be the way to go.
