At what age can a child legally ride on a motorcycle with parent?

I heard that you can take ur child on a bike at age 13, provideing they wear the proper helmet protection. If this is true please send me some proof to this-- Cuz a friend of mine seems to think that the age is 7. Please settle our bet. And please provide proof to any and all answers. Ur input is greatly appreciated!

Most states the age limit is 5.
The bike must be equipped with passenger footpegs and the passenger must be able to reach them.

Varies by state. In MA it's 9. We're looking at scooter style motercycles and the dealers we've spoken with are in agreement with that. We've been told people do put six and seven year olds on, but it isn't considered safe or legal.

We're looking into a sidecar but they aren't the safest things in the world. Your handling in terms of safety and avoidance goes in the toilet, even if you know what you're doing.

um... they make dirt bikes for kids as young as 5-ish.... i don't really think the law has a problem with it... i assume that with the protective gear (which here everyone's supposed to wear regarudless of age) as soon as they're old enough to hang on they're old enough to ride? i don't think it's a very good idea... i'm just speaking legally.

First of all a question to those that have already answered. Why do the majority of you answer the question assuming that the asker lives in America? This is a global forum......... To the questioner. Only the authorities in your locality can competently answer your question.

there is no age limit just a size limit any passenger on a motorcycle must be able to place both feet on the passenger foot pegs and hold on to the bike passsenger strap or rider and must wear a helmet

Totally varies from state to state. FYI, sidecar riding ages tend to be less. Consider hooking up a sidecar.

More of a size than age deal they must have their feet on the rear pegs
a 7 yr old i would doubt they could do it-The officer will have the proof bout $230 in Texas

Well in my state, there is no limit to riding.
But operating you have to be 14 with a motorcyle license.

No lower limit in AZ. Under 18 must be helmeted.

well my son was eight when he first went on mine and im sure that its eight.
