Why do I get cheek pain when wearing motorbike helmet? |
I recently went out on the back of my husbands motorbike for the first time. The helmet I wore seemed to me to be a good fit and for the first 10 minutes was just fine, then I started to get terrible shooting pains in my cheeks and from then on if I moved my mouth or face at all I was in agony. Has anyone else experienced this? And why is it happening? I really would like to go out on the bike again but the pain is putting me off! I agree with the answers about the helmet fit. Definitely, check into getting a proper fitting helmet. Was the helmet bought FOR YOU, or did it come with the bike (or husband)? I have a helmet that came with my bike & matches beautifully; but I most always wear the one I bought because it's more comfortable. You either need a bigger helmet or different cheek pads. It is a good idea to keep a helmet on for 20 - 30 minutes before deciding if it is a good fit since they usually feel fine at first. You can check with the manufacturer of the helmet or the store where you bought it to see if they offer thinner cheek pads. I know Scorpion does. There is usually heaps of cheek room in a moto helmet, may be you use heavy motorbike helmet, why don't you use comfortable lighter helmet Yes I've experienced it. Go buy another helmet! Your helmet is too small. wrar an open helmet light weight get a bigger helmet |
