I'm thinking of getting a bike, insurance help.?

I'm thinking of getting a bike.
maybe a Ninja XZ -10R

So I'd appreciate if someone would answer a few questions of mine.
1. Where does the insurance range from per month, or year... what eva.
2. I may buy it used, and if I do what problems will I run in to.
3. and anything else I should know.

Thanks.

A supersport bike like a Ninja XZ-10R is considered a high performance racing bike by most insurance companies resulting in insurances of around $2000 and likely to even $4000 per year for full coverage especially for younger teen riders. If you choose only liabilty insiurance then the premiums goes down dramatically to just a few hundred a year or less.
You may find that other insurance companies like State Farm and ACUITY rate motorcycles more by the engine displacement more than the type of bike where you might just pay $500/yr for full coverage. They might have a slight increase for supersport bikes, bit not as insane as many other companies. Of course, where you live, your age and driving record also plays a factor.

I ride a Ninja ZX6R, which I recommend instead of a 10R if this will be your first bike. The insurance will be alot less either way and you have more than enough power with a 600cc.
I pay under $500/yr full coverage with a $500 deductible for my Ninja.. I actually paid more for the same coverage for a Harley Sportster 883C I had.

See how nutty insurance companies can be and why you need to call and shop around.

1)Insurance prices run the gamut especially for motorcycles. Every ins. co. has different ways they rate bikes. Some go by engine size, some by class (sport vs. touring, etc), some by name. It makes for some wierd things from company to company such as bikes like 250 Ninjas having high premiums because of the "Ninja" name. The bottom line is you must shop around. Unfortunately you left off major items in your question like your age, experience level, where you live, tickets, etc. I will tell you this on a high-perf bike like that especially if you are a newer/younger rider (which I suspect) you could have yearly premiums of $2,000 and up. I've seen $5,000 quotes for people in those categories. It's an ins. co.'s way of saying- we don't want to insure you, without actually saying it. Shop around.
2) You are looking at a high-perf bike which atrracts a certain type of person so it is possible the bike may have been abused- wheelies, burn-outs, etc. Treat it like any other vehicle purchase and look at the whole picture- service records, the age/charachter of the owner, how things look on the bike (I'm not talking about the chrome either), the chain, the tires, etc. You may need to bring someone with mechanical know-how.
3) The most important thing, seriously? Take the MSF class first and then see if you still think a ZX-10 is a good first bike.

ok firstly you want to get the bike before you insure it, check it over if you know anything about bikes, check the carbs, tyres, oil filters, tank (for rust inside), the chain and ofcourse the electrics. ensure all of this is in good order and replace/clean up if its not,

1. insurance - its dependant on how long you've had a full licence / provisional with CBT, if you had a car license (somtimes) and how many points you may have, where you live, what u intend using it for, howmany miles its done and weather or not its rare.

2. the most common problems with used bikes is rusting in the exhaust, check it for holes or potential holes, if you can weld, get them fixed asap!, this may affect you're MOT and the bikes road legallity.

3. try a couple of websites like www.bennetts.com, www.confused.com or other big sites, if its an import just search for 'Ninja XZ -10R import insurance uk' and im sure you'll find a suitable quote, and try a couple of them, dont just settle for the first one you get, i saved about 拢400 by just trying another site.

happy biking and rock on

It mostly depends on your age, experience, and driving record, but below is a link where you can get a quote online to get an idea.

Go to Geico and get a quote online, it takes like 5 minutes and it is really accurate.
