Best motor bike for a first timer?

i have not done a cbt or bike test and have owned a string of performance cars such as a 430bhp rx7. i have been looking closer ans closer into motor bikes as the cost of owning a performance car is stupid. (rx7 = 拢180 car tax and 15mpg @ 拢1.16pl not to mention insurance!) wont be looking brand new, or anything over a 125cc, a mate suggested a 125cc aprillia race replica but what do you guys think i should be looking at?

the honda 600 hornet.
this is a perfect 1st time bike because it is cheap to run/insure and it is fast. you can keep up with your mates on bigger bikes that will leave piddly 125s in the sunset. it will never break, as you will get to know anything italian intimately as it will always be in bits or the shop. the hornet will also look after you, it will not power-slide, spit you off for going too fast in a corner or wobble with knee down.
second gear wheelies (with a bit of clutch) can be learnt on this bike quite easily and then, in a few years can be applied to blade/r1 to become a unicycling god!!!
good luck with your test !

just dont spend much money if you've had some powerfull cars then you'll should have good road sence so just put the money to your next bike and even then you can get a lot for your money I have sevral bikes my quickest bike is a 12 year old thunderace still a 165 mile an hour bike on the track but even when your ragging it still getts around 40 to the gallon so you'll notice that if you'll been playing with silly cars so just work on moving slightly bigger bike and you'll love it

Congratulations, some pretty useless answers.
I'd get a trail style bike such as a Yamaha DT125, they are as quick as a 125 race rep, and more fun, certainly easier to ride & more useful in town with good visibility & fantastic manoeuverability.
You've had quick cars - so an Aprilia that'll do 70mph won't excite you that much, stick with the trail style machines until you fancy a bigger bike.

really you should go and try sitting on a few and find one that feels good to sit on... you will know the right one when you sit on it

ducati 900 with stabilisers

Honda Hornet 250 is a great bike to start off with. good luck
