I have a 1996 Suzuki Intruder 800 that won't turn over & battery is new. Where should I go next? |
All lights work fine as does the horn. Could it be the starter? Could the start button be bad? Could one of the interlocks be bad? I bought the bike used about two weeks ago. It has been working fine from day one until last night when I went to go for a ride. Find the "starter solenoid". It's the high amp switch that connect the big red battery wire going to the starter motor to the motor when you push the start button. So the start button should make the solenoid switch turn on and connect the battery to the starter motor. It's really just the same on a riding lawnmower or automobile, so first you've got to make the engine crank before it can start. You can short across the high amperage solenoid contacts to force the starter motor to run if the motor's good. |
