I hit a Harley Davidson motorcycle ?

I bumped a Harley Davidson Heritage softail at a stop sign. The Damage minor, tail light busted and back fender slightly bent No one hurt thank god. Anyone have bike knowledge that knows any idea how much this will cost to fix?

I feel like such an idiot. My first accident and I hit a bike.

Rear fender $250 - 300 UNPAINTED, Tail light assembly $300 - 350. Then youv'e got labour and paint! Not cheap!

I'd guess a bit more than a grand,the rear fender will probably not be repaired,they will replace it with one painted by HD at the factory along with the tail light.If the rear light was hit there may be damage to the tail lamp base/license plate/turn signal assembly which would also be replaced.The dealer may also check the fender mounting struts that connect the fender to the frame,if the fender was bent into the rear tire they may want to replace it (you don't take chances when you only have two) but from your description it wasn't that bad.hope this helps and don't beat yourself up too bad as nobody was hurt but please watch out for motorcycles they are everywhere!!!!

If it's only around a $1000 or so, I personally would try to pay out of pocket.
If you go through your insurance, you would have to pay the amount of deductible anyways $250? $500? and then your insurance will probably go up with a accident record on your insurance for quite awhile.
The owner will most likely take it to his favorite Harley dealer for estimates. Ask him to see those estimates so that the dealership doesn't add on any unnecessary repairs or damages that aren't there, because they are good at doing things like that when they think an insurance company is paying for all the damages.

Don't mean to preach, but you need to be a little more attentive when there is a bike in front of you. If you had hurt the rider badly do you have any idea what kind of trouble you'd be in?

probably under a grand, if you broke the lites and bent fendor, they will replace all that new, the cost will be in labor at a harley dealer.

The swing arm might be out of alignment. Remember a little damage to a motorcycle is much like a small hole in a submarine.

let your insurance deal with it. but otherwise around 6 bones

offer the rider a couple of cases of beer and to pay for the taillight and fender at cost. If he is a real biker, then he'd take you up on it. otherwise if he is a RUB, then you didn't hit him hard enough LOL
