Audi door doesn't lock..?

my passenger door doesn't lock on my 53 plate Audi A4, the reason is that a cyclist rode his bike into it.

i've taken it down to Audi garage, they want over 1500 QUID!! to fix the lock....am i missing something or has inflation really hit sky high??

can any mechanics out there give me some advice on how much i should be paying?

Something is wrong here.
It does not cost 拢1500 to fix a lock !
This price maybe correct for a new door + fitting. but if this is the case get a second hand door and your local bodyshop to fit it.
If just the lock or handle is broke then 拢100 to 拢250 should easily cover it.
Try Eurocar parts to. as they are much cheaper than AUDI

I would think that it doesn't lock because the mechanism has been bent or wedged by the door damage. Any half decent garage should be able to straighten the door & the mechanism.
If it was hit by a cyclist, there can't possibly be a great deal of damage unless you managed to kill him.
The most you should need to do is have the door reskinned & repainted, I'd say 拢200-拢300 at the absolute outside.
Get a second opinion, your garage may just be laying it on in the assumption that it'll be an insurance job.

how much your budget?
if you dont have money but want to fix it ,just go to junk yard and buy a new door,or component you need.
if you have money,go to craigslist.

its not the lock so much as the car being bent out of shape.

thats taking the wee wee..far to much...u may get away with adjusting the door striker plate....any car brakers will sell you the complite door lock/latch mechanisum for about 拢45
