What is average bike pedaling speed? |
i need to know b/c i want to go to a friends house and he lives 18 miles away, so at a medium speed how many mph am i going? this'll depend on the terrain, weather, wind, etc. it also depends on efficiently you use your gears, and how strong your legs are. the average fit cyclist, on a road bike will average 14-18 mph. a casual rider on a comfort bike will average around 8-10 mph. the only way to know how long it'll take you, is to ride it! because you could out there for about 2 hours, bring plenty of water or sports drink and energy bars or gels to fuel your muscles. best rule is to take a drink every 10 minutes. don't wait until you're thirsty. thirsty = dehydrated! assuming your a comfort bike you would probably go14-18 mph. |
