What are the best pedals to buy for a 2008 Specialized Sirrus bike?

I'm looking to use a cycling shoe with spd clips and I'm wondering whats the best type of pedal for this bike?

Also, can someone tell me what does it mean when the pedal says "clipless"??

I'd go with a MTB double sided entry SPD pedal. I have used many SPD type brands and found most work very well so I don't have a specific model to recommend.

The pedals are called clipless because the old style of performance pedals used a clip that went over your shoe with a strap that you cinched down to hold your foot in place. They are the original clips so the type the SPD are called clipless. Sounds strange until you know the history.
