What kind of pedals are these? Can I get shoes?

Okay the site for the bike is below. I was wondering what kind of pedals they are. Eventually I want to get a nice pair of biking shoes that clip into the pedals. Will these accept clip ins or some kind of special shoe? Or will I have to change them out for a different pedal?

This bike is shipped with traditional clip and strap pedals. These will work with virtually any shoes, including sneakers.

Beginners get confused by this nomenclature because so many people now call step-in pedals with a modern cleat system "clip-in" pedals or "clip" pedals when they are actually "clipless" pedals, designating the absence of traditional toe clips. The Windsor comes with traditional toe clips.

This pedal system will work fine for you at first, and you can later upgrade to a good clipless pedal system from Look, Shimano, Speedply, Crank Brothers, or one of the other good makers. I'm partial to Look Keos myself, but this is a matter of personal preference.

You don't "clip in" to these pedals at all. You put your foot into them and manually tighten the toe straps. To "clip in" (correctly expressed as "step in") you'll need different pedals.

Hope this doesn't add to your confusion. All of this is because of newcomers to cycling who don't know what clips are.

those are platform pedals, with toe-clips. no special shoes needed. you will have to replace them with clipless pedals when you are ready to make the switch. honestly though, it's not much of a bike. have you shopped around at a few different bike shops?

edit--no. cycling shoes with cleats will not work with those pedals. you can wear any shoes, and tighten the straps around your foot. toe clips are dangerous, as they arent as easy to disengage as clipless pedals (what it sounds you're looking for). you can get relatively inexpensive clipless pedals from shimano or wellgo. either will use an SPD cleat. make sure your cycling shoes have the same bolt pattern as your cleat.

They are just regular pedals with clips on them, you can use regular shoes. They are OK to start out on but you want to upgrade later on. They are what I am using now because I don't have the money to upgrade. Don't tighten them down too much, they are dangerous when you can't get your feet out easily

I think this is a pretty good buy for what it is. It's pretty tough to find a road bike at a local shop that cheap.

you can wear pretty much any shoes with these. you don't need look or shimano style clips to use these. Just make sure you get used to putting your feet in and out before you go on any challenging roads.

They are generic toe-clip pedals. You can use whatever shoes you want. I suggest that you just buy some lower end clip in pedals and shoes because they are actually much easier and safer to use than toe clips. Check out bikenashbar.com for cheap clipins.
