Rear cassette of gears on my 21 speed bike spins but rear wheel does not move? |
hi i am new at bike repair so im hoping someone can help me the rear group of gears or the casset as im told its called spins but doesnt engage the wheel everything seems to be attached corectly i hoping someone out there can answer my question i wanted to ride this weekend. It is not the bearings as previously mentioned. The freewheel cassette (the gears) are spining free, but the bearings on your wheel inside the hub are most likely worn out. You will have to replace the bearings and re-grease them to make sure that the wheel spins smoothly again. See Sheldon Brown's article on overhauling hubs for more information. that means its broken and u need a new one, i think u need a special tool to remove it too, or maybe just a screw driver and a hammer |
