Looking to upgrade from CBR F2-- What to get? |
I have a CBR F2 and I'd like to upgrade. I'm very comfortable with the CBR's and was thinking about the F4i, but I need a good easy-to-fix-yourself kind of stable bike in the lower price bracket. I was think about a buell because they are easy to repair, but I'm addicted to the look and feel of the CBRs... Any suggestions? Thanks. =] Was looking into the SV650's, so good to hear. Whats the difference between repairing a F2 and a F4i? Hell they hardly need any maintenance at all. Pour in gas change the oil and filter every once in awhile. Buy the F4i. I think injected bikes are esier to maintain is really there isn't much todo, carbs need alot more attention. The only wrong side is if FI breaks you probably won't be able to fix it your self. ZZR600, it's similar to the CBR600F4i but it's carbuerated, so fixing it is going to be simpler. It's another bike just like the F4i that the manufeactuer (Kawasaki) is leaving around, though they are making faster models. i would go with the yamaha r6 If you like the f4i, get it. They are great bikes, I got one new in 02 and put over 36,000 miles on it. The only thing to have gone wrong other than regular maintenance (7 sets of tires+ a few rears here and there) was the cam chain tensioner. Most say its only a noise and you do not have to fix it, but it's a nice bike and why have it sounding bad, you may have had the same problem with you f2. It has been a great bike, I kept it when I got a new 1000rr last summer. I still ride it for commuting because it is far more comfortable than the new bike. I stayed with Honda because of how great of a bike it has been, no problems and I have by no stretch of the imagination babied the bike. It has been dragged raced, one track day, and ridden quite hard when I first got it and was in still young enough to be stupid. I have done all of my maintenance on the bike other than the first 600 mile check-up and the first two sets of tires. It is a fairly easy bike to maintain but you should get a manual, stands and basic metric hand tools. google cbr forum. |
