Paint Job - Should I pay? |
I was referred to this guy who does fender bender repair and paints motorcycles on the side. He told me he coould paint my wife's ninja for $250. I've seen a bike he painted and he does really good work. I gave him the plastics the last week in April. He told me it would take 2 weeks. I just got my plastics back last night! And he still has to give me my mirrors. I only gave him $100 so far. The paint job is great. I don't think he deserves $250 though because he stalled me with excuse after excuse for over a month. it was supposed to be my wife's birthday surprise. What you all think I should do when i go get my mirrors today? It's not about being cheap. The money is no issue. My thing is that he would lie to me and feed me BS time and time again. He'd tell me to meet him or come by and then nothing was done. Oh it will be done next week then still nothing. You went through the honor system channels, not to a professional shop. 250 is a fair price. However, get your mirrors before you tell the dude you're not gonna pay him the full amount... It seems a lot of paint guys do that. By law if you didn't have a written agreement with a time line you don't have a leg to stand on. the only way your going to get you mirrors back is to pay the man. He did the work, he did a good job and at a very very low price. that all you can really ask for on a $250 dollar paint job. You should pay him the money. If it's as good a job as you say, he deserves it. He probably has a live also, as you said, he paints bikes on the side, not his primary job. Maybe you should have taken the parts earlier. pay the man.you go to a drs, appt at 2 pm,get to see the dr, at 3 pm,you waited 1 hr before seeing him your still getting a bill that youll pay.do the right thing and dont recommend him for a quick return but on the job he does $250 is a good price for a 'professional' paint job. Even if he was putzing around it'd be best to pay in full, but leave the impression that you'd have liked the work done quicker. if you like the paint job, pay what you agreed upon. $250 is a very affordable proffessional paint job. don't be cheap! You should go ahead and pay the $250.00 that's so cheap anyway. You got a good paint job. Did you ever hear the old saying " cut your losses and run"? Pay the guy and quit dealing with him. Once was his fault, twice it's your fault. Good affordable paint people are hard to come by, Pay the man and quit being cheap. Pay him !! PAY HIM! Pay up,you may need him again. pay up you're not gonna like my answer but talk to him, tell him you think there should be some compensation on your end for all the delaying... |
