My transmission on my 2000 honda accord is failing, and I don't have the money to fix it.?

I was wondering if there are churches willing to help a poor person get his car fixed. I bought it from a bad car dealer, and didn't get a warranty on it. It cost $9000. I really don't want to say goodbye to my car, and have to ride a bike 20 miles to work.
Anyone know of places that either offer free or reduced car repair.

Do your own fluid and filter change. It might cost you $30. Add some magic fluid that they sell at all local auto parts stores. A simple fluid and filter change will solve a lot of problems. If it doesn't work you are only out $30 and then you know your are screwed. I would say $30 is worth it to find out how bad your trans is.

What exactly is it doing?

A bad car dealer? Did the car run when you bought it? If it did they may have known as much about the trans as you did....which was nothing. Did you have the car looked at before you bought it? If the dealer says you can't take the car to a mecahnic before buying it then walk away and go somewhere else.

20 miles on a bike could be as short as an hour ride. Take the bus.

you should contact honda, i think they had a recall on those transmission.

a friend of mine got his transmission replaced free of charge. and he bought it as an used vehicle.
