I want to learn to repair motorcycles but dont know where to start.? |
So i just recieved an old 82 Kawasaki GPZ 1100 from my pops who's had it sitting for the past seven years collecting dust. It ran perfectly fine before he left it there. My goal is to hopefully reverse engineer it by taking it completely apart, cleaning all the components, replacing what needs to be replaced, or repairing what needs to be fixed, and then putting it back together. He has multiple motorcycles that are in this condition and about the same age so i would love to learn to turn a wrench on bikes. Besides buying some books, my question is where should i start, and what are things i should look for with bikes being 10+ years old and have been sitting around for a few years. (with the exception of having to clean out the carburetor). Appreciate any advice, and details would be a great help. Clean out the fule tank , change the spark plugs , change the air filter , and get a new battery for starters that should get the bike started if that does it take it on a long road trip for about 20 mins to get every thing flowing , it might need the brake fluid changed new brake pads and new tires > you can go to MMA , but the best advice is to find a private nechanic that will teach you , PSYCO advice was great ! take some classes at school |

Buy the F4i. ...Yes they can repair, there should be no problem in replacing the screen...expect to pay some $$ ...Not familiar with your year and model - but some Jap 4 cylinders had 2 sets of points around that age, some might have gone to magnetic pickups and capacitor discharge.
