ok, im 19, like in the UK, my dad is thinking of going on a trip away and i would like to go with him on a motorbike. just looking for a bike that might be able to 'keep up', me being 19 in uk im limited. any advice would be nice on erliable bikes etc :) thanks I'm assuming you have a full, yet restricted, license? You can get any bike you prefer as long as you have the bike restricted, if it need to be, then you will still be legal. As you are restricted it won't matter what bike you get cuz you wont be able to 'keep up' unless your dad stays behind with you. I advise lots of research, test riding, talking to your dad and/or friends would be good too on as far as what to ride. And as far as keeping up. . . that depends on what he has, and how he rides. nearly every 250cc or larger bike will run highway speeds, but it's more advisable to go larger for touring, although a guy did do the alaska bike run, here in america on a 250cc suzuki and that's 10k miles in 3-4 weeks. I used to own Kawasaki Vulcan 500 (cruiser style). It small enough for beginner rider and yet big enough to "keep up" on the hwy with big bikes. Very easy to ride and low maintenance bike. www.ebay.com |

Yes it could, lots of people tour on mountain bikes. Pannier racks can be fitted to mountain bikes and to suspension forks. If your only riding on the road the suspension forks will add a few extra... Ask around at your local bike shops and clubs, leave a Wanted poster on their bulletin boards. Do not be afraid to get an older road bike from the Eighties. They will have everything you need for... Too cold ... not really (I've ridden at temperatures down to -35C). But it would certainly be "cool" weather requiring fall/winter gear (gloves, hat/ear covers, tights, cycling jack... yes im gonna get best answer since noone else answered. ...you should be able to get similar clamps, in various sizes, at your local hardware store. ...to me, the name on the tubes doesnt matter. all those brands build quality bikes, so i shop features. which one has the best package for the money? i am buying a new bike too. what was first ... Good question. The rules allow it, but common sense does not. As you can see by watching the Tour, a strong rider can ride the steepest roads in Europe with a double. I'm glad you asked i... |
