Im 6"5 220lbs and looking to purchase a touring bike> what motorcycle would you recommend for my size?

There is only one... there is only one... there is only one... notice all these recommendations come from people shorter than you. You need a Longbow, a softail motorcycle with HD motor and trans built specifically for tall guys. I am 6' 4" 290... no Harley fits, even with 3" extended forward controls, and Wings are shear torture. I have riden a Longbow cross country and never moved my feet from the floorboards. I have been a Winger for many years (and was a Goldwing Road Rider Association member for many years too) but just bought my first Harley touring bike which I am really enjoying. I don't know if the various models of the touring Harleys are the same but this is definitely not a tall man's bike. I had alot more stretching out room on my 1500 Goldwing (I am 6'1"). I am not at all cramped on the Harley but it really is smaller. Plus the local Harley dealer told me he was getting alot of Goldwing converts because the Wing's seat is too high, which tells me it would be better for a bigger guy. Bottom line...do lots of test riding and see what works best for you. Don't jump in too fast!

You might be really cramped on any of the HD touring bikes. They are huge, but the seats are low and there isn't that much room to stretch out your feet unless you get highway pegs. I am 6' and weigh 200 pounds and my old Roadking was a perfect size. I just don't know if it would fit you. If you like American bikes, the Buell Ulysses has a REALLY high seat. There is an adventure touring one that is slightly enduro focused, and then another that is more of a highway bike. They even have a police version now.

It's just one idea among many many good choices.

I have been riding for years. Im not as big as you but know my bikes. I think your best bet would be a Harley electra glide with some highway pegs so you can stretch out the legs a bit once your up to cruising speed. A close second would be a Honda goldwing with the highway pegs as well.
The upside to a Harley is that most dealers will let you test ride a bike to get a feel for what you want.

well theres only two makes I would choose from.HD. or Honda, the Goldwing is a great bike loaded with features. hell it even has a reverse which spins the starter motor backwards and backs it up tp the curb. which brings up the only thing about it that I dont like.The seat hight. Pretty tall and its a heavy bike. Thats why it has the reverse feature. There are a number of Harleys to look at starting with the road king and going all the way to the F.L.H.T.C.U.I. Has everything the wing has except reverse. Nice low seat hight doesnt need it. They price about the same. The wing is an inline 6 cylinder liquid cooled modern loaded with things like an onboard compressor.The Harley is the venerable tried and true air cooled V twin .Twin cam fuel injected. Smooth and quiet. You should go to the dealerships test ride if available. See what fits you best. B.M.W. also makes a realy nice stone cold reliable machine. Might wanna cotact the Goldwing Riders Association see what riders have to say. likewise members of HOG can give you input.

I can't believe no one mentioned BMW. Most mortals are on their tiptoes on a Beamer, but they might be a perfect fit for you. I don't have a specific model to recommend, though.

I'd give the Triumph Sprint a good long look, too.

Any touring bike will be sufficient.
