Any tips for hitting up a skate park with a BMX bike for the first time?

Any tips for when i go to the park so i dont completly emabarass my self.

First, have fun. Second, don't try stunts or airs bigger than what you're ready for. Third, be respectful of other riders....if there are skilled riders there and you're just dinking around in the bowls, don't spend too much time in there, but don't feel embarrassed or hesitant to take your turn riding.

Spend a little time watching other riders to see what lines they take and the flow they create. Picking a good pattern will make it more fun, even if you avoid getting air or can't hip a corner in the same lines that they take. If the park has some taller half-corners or oververts, make sure you get up some speed and rail 'em....those are fun!

Also, gauge the attitude of the group around you.....some people are fun and cheer each other or laugh at mistakes, others are a bit snobby and act like you should stay silent with no congratulations or laughter.

Oh, and if you haven't dropped in from the coping on verts, be sure you find a place in the park where the angle is less or where there is a smoother concrete entry.....most parks have those.

Have fun, wear the helmet (and pads, if you want to)....! :o)

Try not to go and wear what they wear and do as they do before you go for the first time. You need to realise that it will take some time to learn how to ride at a skate park as it is arguably one of the hardest forms of bike riding around. By not trying to dress as one of the 'hardcores' you wont feel nearly as embarrassed when you begin as they wont be watching you as much.

Good luck

Hey, a few tips
1. Make sure when you bust tricks they are ones that you can do easily and if you can't do em easily make sure they're impressive
2 Don't try and do stuff that is there for only skaters eg. rails...
3 DON'T get in the way of the locals, especially if they skate

1. Don't get intimidated.
2. Some of the better kids will help you if you need it.
3.Don't get in the way of the skaters. They get offended easily.
4.Have fun.
