How many of you sportbike riders have ever tried another type of bike?

specifically have ya ever tried a chopper, A real chopper ya know ridgid frame suicide shift kickstart only. what did ya think of it

Your pullin' the weenies out of the woodwork there Chopper, I hope you saw that coming. I've had a slew of sportbikes made in the late '70's. Remember when they looked like motorcycles and not melted chewing gum. They sounded good with sawed-off exhaust and men were men wearing boots and cowhide with chain-drive wallets loaded with real money. Guess that's still me but now I'm on a Hog where me and my kind belong.

regarding choppers:
maybe if I was riding in the 60's and 70's then I would have another more pragmatic level of appreciation, but to me choppers are first and foremost works of art. sculptures that smoke and snarl and burn gasoline and rubber. In the other question posted recently regarding doing your own wrenching, the stories of people tooling and fabricating their own parts inspires me with awe. It is the craftsman aspect that I find compelling.

I cannot relate to choppers as something actually rideable. the rake is so grotesquely distorted from the functionally perfect angle that I just can't imagine one being enjoyable to ride.

also I think it is an anachronism that most choppers follow the retro styling of yesterdays harleys. I think it is indicative of a deep seated sickness in our society that so many people focus their time and energy on nostalgia for the past instead of looking to the future at what can come next.

I have ridden a whole lot of bikes...not specifically a bike like you are talking about, But I have ridden a hard tail chopper, lol, I even rode another hard tail chopper with a Honda 750SS engine on it. Every bike has qualities that makes it a blast to ride... I even take off on my brothers Shadow if he parks it in the driveway with the key in it.

But in the end, I couldn't be without my rocket... its just a feel I couldn't give up, if I decided I wanted a cruiser..rather its a rigid frame suicide shift..or any other type of cruiser, I would have to have two bikes in my garage.

Ive rode sportbikes for a few years now
But i have tried a chopper, it wasnt a kickstart but it was loud as fook!
Once i got used to the sitting position it was good fun!

We have alot of traffic in the city in London so im not too sure if ill be too confident filtering on it!

In the future i will buy one cos they are really cool and like the look on people faces as you ride by..... My bike is loud but if i ride with my frend... i cant hear mine!!

I've ridden a number of hardley ablesons,
I used to ride a standard/tourer (77 cb750 w/ king & queen saddle, full fairings, stereo, etc...)
I've ridden a few sport bikes

i've never ridden your chopper, but based simply on the physics, i can tell it wouldn't turn worth a da*n

I tried a Honda Magna 750...really hate sitting upright

when I throw my leg over a bike I want to know that it is engineered to the highest quality to ensure my safety and pleasure. Not to mention dirty, digusting, satisfying power.

Choppers don't turn, so I don't care for them.
You have to make a three point turn just to make a right.
I'll ride anything.

I had a 67 triumph bonneville which was chopped and raked back it the late 70s, I looked cool and got the chicks, but as I recall it did not handle as good as my Ninja does now
