Whats a good used cruiser bike between &2500 and $3000?

hey guys,

im looking to buy a dependable cruiser.im starting out so i would need a smaller bike.also, whats considered high mileage for a motor cycle?

Last summer, I bought my wife a 2001 Honda Shadow VLX 600. It had 2800 miles, no dents/scratches, in excellent condition. I paid $2800. Found it on Craig's List.

The VLX 600 is a good dependable bike. Not very heavy and a low saddle height.

Regarding mileage, you should be able to find a low-mileage smaller bike, since many people buy them to learn on, and end up selling to upgrade to a bigger bike.

I'm not sure about what would be considered high-mileage for a bike. It depends on where the bike was owned to a large extent. How long the riding season is in your area and if the conditions allow year-round riding.

I ride everyday and put at least 1000 miles a month on my bike.

Joe B above there is probably super rich calling you a cheap. or he is really cheap that he is desperate for 2 points that he responds to questions for which he has no answers.

go for a honda rebel. you can get an almost new one. its only 250cc but enough for most people and saves gas (70mpg). If the cc is a problem go for a honda shadow as a previous poster suggested.both are rock solid vehicles and minimal expenses.

regarding mileage , it depends on previous owner(s) of the vehicle. if it was taken good care then even 25K is not high miles. it can go a lot more. Usually honda cruisers are known to cross 150K.

Buying a used bike less than $3000 also will save you a lot on insurance. Make sure you buy good protective gears with the money you save.

Happy riding

My 04 Shadow is the best bike I have ever owned, bar none. It started at $5000 new, so I'm guessing the same year or close to it would be worth about $3k now.

The only thing that could make the bike better is if I got paid to ride it.

Its like the people who assembled the bike did so on the best day of their lives. Same with the people who built the parts, and the hardware. Its a beautiful thing. If feel like I have a symbiotic-like relationship when I am on it. It's a part of me.

you're a cheapskate
