Is it legal to take your dog on your motorcycle in California?

Ive seen a couple of bikers with little dogs on there gas tanks straped on. my dog is not a really smalll dog but he is small, and i mostly see this on harleys and cruisers, i have a sports bike.

The legal answer to this question is no. You are not only jeopardizing your pets safety but yours as well because in case the pet moves or jumps you might be unable to control your motorcycle.

They make pet carriers in which should always be used while having a pet with you on a bike.

I know they make pet backpacks as well as other carriers in which you can strap down to your motorcycle which will allow you to bring your pet with you.

If you read up on Jerimiah and Lady Harley's story , you'll find that the cops phucked with them for years.
Jerimiah always prevailed and though Lady Harley has since passed , he is riding to this day with a new dog ( a large white sheppard, saw him just a couple of weeks ago in Malibu.

anaimals arent covered in the law IF... its not creating a danger for you, its self or other drivers. Just keep in mind it will be the opinion of a cop and judge as to if that condition existed.

If I saw someone doing that I'd just have to kick their a$$ on the spot. I don't care if it's legal or not. Why not just throw an 18 month old infant up on the tank also.

I think its ok if his paws reach the pegs....
