When you are running-in the engine on a dirt bike what are you actually doing, whats happening inside the moto? |
And how important is this towards the bikes over-all performance? All the parts on a new engine have to wear into fit each other. This is what you are trying to accomplish, on any motorized vehicle whether a dirt bike or a street bike. So change your oil as specified (usually 5-600 miles) and take it in to the dealer as required for service at that point. (Changing the oil is the single most important thing in the early life of your motorcycle, that you can do to extend the life of engine.) When they wear in to fit together nicely they produce a bunch of metal particles and flakes which are only removed from the system by changing your oil. It's important,,so follow the recommendations of your owners manual |
