What kind of dirt bike should I get my son? |
Looking for a decent beginners bike for my 4 year old son. Any advice on what kind to get him? I know nothing about the different brands of dirt bikes, and I don't want to end up with a piece of crap... Any advice would be appreciated! Yes the Honda CRF 50 aka XR 50 is the most reliable bike out there. It will last for many years. The Yamaha PW 50 also works very well for smaller kids. Both have training wheel kits etc. just buy the newest bike you can afford. Do not by imported stuff from China. Make sure if buying used that to CRF 50 was not owned by a teen, many riders use the CRF 50 for a pit / play bike. My son has both of these bikes he loves his PW the best,it is a little smaller. The PW is a Two stroke oil injection, the CRF is a four stroke straight gas. The PW is one speed the CRF is a three speed. Both have automatic type clutches. a honda 50 would be an excellent first dirt bike... Magz is right on the money, CRF50 all the way and maybe start with the training wheels until he is comfortable with the brakes, gears, etc. i think 4yrs old is too young to start busting up his body |

The tenth digit in the seventeen digit VIN# tells you what year it is. Yamaha has it's own lettering system on top of that. For instance if your bike was a 1984 model it would be a PW80L, a 19... Umm ?? Why dont you try to put the bike in in and see if it fits !?! Good Luck !! :-) ...very important... no matter what, your engine parts start wearing down the very first time they move against each other.... each run in program is specially designed to that specific bike to produc... A Mop or Yarn would work well ;))) ...you dont want a mini moto mate, there chinese rubbish and break to much. either get a good brand of pitbike (terra-moto,thumpstar) or if its to rome the streets get a second hand chinese pitbike fo... Ask the local police. ...i would be suprised if the suspension worked at all with 10w40 in it.. usually they use a 5 wieght or even a 2 weight oil....without knowing the exact spec I would guess around 300-500 cc ...Hey man that really depends on what style you are looking for. and it also depends a little on your weight too, but mostly what you are going to use it for.
