Do people still wear helemts when riding a bike?

Is wearing a helmet considered dorky now?
Whenever I ride my bike my mom always tells me to wear a helmet, but NOBODY at my school wears them, and there's a lot of kids who ride their bikes to school.
Does the helmet really protect a person?
Do you wear them?

i dont see teens wearing them, ever.
but i do see these people wearing them:
pro bike riders
pro skaters
and two year olds.

Was it ever NOT dorky?

When I was a kid (mostly in the 90's) the only kids who wore helmets were retards who fell down alot.

I've had accidents, but never hit my head on anything... I can't really envision how that would happen honestly, but there are some people with really bad motor skills out there I guess.

I always wear mine.
I mean would you want to look dorky & be safe.. or look "cool" and crack your head open. I'v fallen of bikes and quads numerous times, and they have saved my butt.

I wear a helme when I ride my bike to work. Depending on your riding conditions and the dangers you might want to consider it. If you're just riding through a park or something it might not be a big deal.

If you don't want a serious head injury or possibly death, it is a good idea to wear a helmet. Helmets should be as typical as seat belts--they save lives, so why not wear one?

Unless you want to risk damaging your brain and rendering yourself even more pathetic than you seem, then by all means don't wear a helmet. :)

It's the law that you have to.

Yes! I always wear my helmet, One time I flipped over on my bike on the cement and it saved me! Also if you feel dorky just take it off when your starting to get close to people at school.

No, I believe wearing a halo brace is considered dorky now.
