Do disabled have to pay vat on an aid to mobility eg a mobility scooter? VAT for Scooters We recently bought 2 Rise & Recline chairs from a furniture store in the town where we live...one for me & one for my husband. The rise & recline chairs are exempt from VAT as they are considered as a disability aid. No Lynfrog, you simply have to sign a form declaring that you are disabled and that the scooter is a necessity. If the VAT people check on you and discover that you have been exaggerating you disability they will hang you out to dry by the short and curlies------LOL. No - answer 1 is correct. The VAT people will randomly check these forms and prosecute anyone found wrongly claiming. No disabled people don't as they're exempt from paying tax and VAT. some do some don't no-you have a form to sign which makes you vat exempt i didn,t have to pay vat on my scooter |
