What is the best hardtail mountain bike for under 拢220?

What would be the best hardtail (front suspension only) mountain bike to buy for between 拢0 and 拢220?

Langsett are a great bike shop but you should look for a bike shop in your local area who can give you good advice and after sales service.

Firstly, ignore the advice about Kmart, Tescos, JJB sports, etc.

You are not going to get a great bike for that sort of money, but you will probably get a reasonably built steel frame machine, perhaps with RST forks and Shimano Altus gears.

Try your local bikes shop in the first instance. Tell them what sort of riding you plan to do and how often. They will then suggest the best machine for you and how much you should spend.

You are not going to get a great machine for this money, but I would consider Diamondback (MTB Branch of Raleigh).
