Should i buy a Carrera Road bike?

Hello there,
My question today, is should i spend the 拢240 on a road racing bike if im going to be using it for going to and from school? (about 1-2 miles to school, and another 1-2 miles back home)
I currently have a nice touring bike, which didnt fail me (see http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?V... )

The racing bike that i want to buy, would it be pretty resistant to little bumps like going around on the pavement etc?
Will the parts be expensive?
Are they uncomfortable? by the position of the rider, it looks like you have to be bent all the time when riding?
Well, thats all,
Thanks!

Don't ride on the pavement, especially on a road bike, you'll put pedestrians and yourself in a lot of danger.

Road bikes may *look* uncomfortable to ride from the pictures, but when you sit on one that's the right size for you, they're really not that bad.

TBH, I don't think 4 miles a day is really worth spending 拢240 on a road bike. Look on eBay for a second hand bike from a bigger brand (please don't use Halfords). For the same price, you'll get much better quality parts which will last much longer.

i wouldnt use a bike like that on pavements, it will be bad for bumbs etc with wheels so thin, also not good for the wet weather in the uk. You should go for either a hi-brid or mountain bike

You cannot go up and down curbs with a road bike. It will buckle
the wheels.
Get a mountain bike and put slick tyres on it. It will be almost as fast and much stronger.

racing bikes are the least comfortable of all. A mountain bike would be the most comfortable.
