Why does my Bianchi Via Nirone road bike have a 6000 series alum. frame instead of the 7000 they advertise?

I dont see the 6000 series frame advertised on the website for the Via Nirone, only the 7000.

Because they put the wrong sticker on it at the factory in Taiwan and it is really a 7000 series? As far as I know the 6000 Series ALU frame has only been used on their MTB lines. While the composition of the 6000/7000 alloys differ, both would be triple-butted and the difference might be difficult to ascertain without analysis of the bare frame.

Bianchi is in a bit of flux right now - for the 2007/2008 season they hired a new product manager (from Specialized, I believe) who has significantly changed their lineups. It wouldn't be too surprising if someone mis-labelled some frames during a change in the product linea. Given the 6000 series being MTB specific for Bianchi, it seems unlikely your frame is actually a 6000 series. Then again... Bianchi's US frames are built in Taiwan by a third party, so who knows?

If all else fails, maybe you have a one off, future collectors item?
