Is a 60 cm road bike too big for me?

I am 6'0", 150 lbs, with a 32-34 inch inseam. I have proportional body parts, although I think my legs and arms are a little long. Is a 60 cm bike too big for me? Would a 58 be better?

I appreciate the help.

Yeah, go with the 58cm unless the particular 60cm frame you're looking at has a shorter top tube than normal. I'm 6'0" with a 33" inseam and rode a 60cm frame for a long time. Even with a shorter stem it wasn't as comfortable and didn't handle as well when cornering as the 58cm does for me. Everything depends on the frame geometry, of course, so test ride both sizes of the same bike if at all possible. I'm betting you'll like the smaller one much better, though.

Hope this helps...good luck! :o)

This question cannot be answered without knowing the geometry of the bike in question.

And even then, it can only be answered by you because it depends on how you will be using it and what position you find most comfortable/efficient for that use.

Inseam is not the same as pubic bone height. The former depends on how you want to wear your pants, while the latter is more descriptive of a bike frame that will fit you.

At your height, you may very well find yourself most comfortable on a 60cm frame, depending on geometry and intended use. That's not a recommendation...just an FYI that size specific answers to your question as stated don't mean much,

You're pretty vague about your inseam measurement. If it's 32 inch I'd be looking for a 56cm. 34 inch maybe a 57 or 58cm. Get the smallest size that you can that still has a long enough top tube to be comfortable. You don't want to go any bigger than necessary. That's why test rides are important. If you go a little small you can always raise the seat post and fit a longer stem. The shop should be willing to do that for you.

Sizing is the main problem I have against mail order buying from places like Bikes Direct. You can't try the bike out before you buy. If you don't know what size you need you could make a costly mistake.

But keep in mind that no one on a forum like this can give you an absolute answer without actually seeing you and the bike. There are to many variables. We can only make an educated guess.

You need to find your exact inseam measurement. With a 34 inch inseam the bike should be 58 cm. This is just an estimate of coarse, you need to be fitted at a bike shop.

60's pretty big - just from your description it sounds too big. I'm 6'3" and I ride a 59. But really it depends on the bike - try it out if you can.
