I have a schwinn bike with what I think has a .883 size head set . What can I do to upgrade the stem? Either you have a very old Schwinn with a 7/8" steerer or you are explaining wrong. I think the latter is the case. The headset? Not sure where you're coming from... |

somewhat better parts on the Mesa ...It's difficult to answer this one as we don't know how your dad might ride it (cruising around neighborhood, bike path, a little offroad, road). Huffy and Schwinn have made some wonder... Go to Kelley Blue Book.com and look it up, for yourself. It'd take you just as much time as it would take us. As far as the bike, maybe $50. ...Are we sure that's not a cross-frame? It kinda looks like it. That is what you'll probably need for 27 inch wheels, but for 25 bucks you can always try it. It says it comes with wheels... The work must have been done at a refinisher since the Schwinn/Paramount factory hasn't been around for almost 20 years, maybe more. Unfortunately, just adding decals (to include the frame ... You should NEVER use grease (or greese) on a chain. Don't use 3 in 1 oil, vegetable oil, or motor oil either. Instead, use silicone or a lube made especially for chains. A $5 bottle of chain l... Nice project. But you can't fix deteriorated tires (even if you could I wouldn't want to ride them!). You will have to replace them ... rubber starts to deteriorate after about 5 years... Start with making sure they have sufficient pressure in them. If they're standard MTB style wheels and tires, they can handle 65psi easily. If they're skinny road tires (unlikely),... |
