Bicycle Tire/Rim Question?

I was wondering if it was at all possible to put a 700c bicycle tire on a 26x1.95 bicycle tire. If it is possible what would I need to to to make it work. Buy a new set of rims? And obviously tires and tubes to match. Also, my bike is a Schwinn Mid-town bicycle, COSTCO special! If this would not work is there anyone who can tell me how to lower the rolling resistance of the bike, and maybe any other way to make it faster? Thank you for your time!

One person said that the duel susp. was eating up energy, is there any way to change that?

The best thing to do is go for a narrower, slick 26" tyre. Try something like a Continental Sport Contact 26x1.6.

They should fit but check with the bike shop when you buy them.

There are 'semi-slick' all terrain mt. bike tires available ( if you look at TREK Soho bikes, you'll get a good idea of how totally slick tires can fit mountain bikes WITH STYLE---get a 2008 TREK color catalog at your nearest TREK dealer----). Bontrager has tires you want ( ask them too from your TREK dealer). If your rims are Mavic,Bontrager or Sunn, its OK. All you need are slicks dude.

No, not on your 26" rims. However, you can buy narrow, inverted-tread tires for your rims, which is what I did when I started riding long road rides on my old mountain bike. Check Performance or bike Nashbar online for potential tires, or go to a local bike shop.

No, the only thing that you can do is keep the tire pressure up.
The pressure range should be listed on the side of the tire and pump it up the the max rated. The dual suspension is eating up a lot of energy.
