Does anybody own an E-bike?

I'm looking to purchase an e-bike but I am a bit skeptical on the life of the battery. Do I go lead-acid or lithium? How often do you need to replace a battery? What is the cost of a battery?

I'm thinking more of the scooter style.

I own one with a lead acid 36 volt battery and the real drawback as opposed to a lithium or Ni-MH battery is the weight but in any case I think most manufacturers nowadays are using lithium batteries. I was told when I bought it that the battery would start to degrade after about 300 charges and I've used mine over 500 times and while it has degraded a little it's still perfectly okay. I have a full suspension mountain bike type with a 200w motor in the rear hub and I get people stopping me in the street to ask me about it because it is a very unusual looking bike but as regards reliability I've had no problems with it at all.
