My car was hit by a scooter who the owner did not report stolen, he had insurance will they pay for my car?

I did contact my insurance company and gave them his information, will they go after his insurance company and would it look like I filed a claim and would my insurance go up?

well here's the thing about stolen vehicles.......

they are NEVER considered covered. hopefully i can explain this without confusing you.

In order for any vehicle to be covered when being driven by anyone but the owner, the driver MUST have a drivers license and the owner MUST give permission to drive the vehicle. once the car is out of the owner possession without permission, it's no longer insured. bottom line. you can ask any insurance company around.

you're going to have to file what's call an "uninsured motorist claim" this is also known as a "not at fault accident claim" most companies will not hold it against you.

but here's where i have questions? how much damage was caused to your car? could you handle paying for it out of pocket? if you can pay for it out of pocket, i highly recommend it. here's why..... many insurance companies offer what's called a "safe driver discount." Let's say a year from now, you decide you want to switch insurance companies, and you go to another insurance company that offers a "safe driver discount." the only way you're going to qualifiy for a safe driver discount is if you have a CLEAN claims history. and i mean SQUEAKY clean!! no claims what so ever can be on there or you wont qualify...and the SDD can save you anywhere from 15-30%.

A car hit mine and to keep my insurance from going up the policeman gave me the name of the driver's insurance company. I called them, not mine. They fixed the car. My insurance did not go up. Someone else hit my car again and I gave info to my insurance company who did not follow through and my premium went up. I had to hire a lawyer to get it straightened it out Check with the insurance company to make sure that they follow through. They get lazy and just want to blame you for it and nowadays may even drop you.

your insurance will pay for the damages being they hit you it is a Not at fault accident and your rate should not go up because of it. but your insurance comany has the responsibility to go after your deductiable from the scooters insurance company.
