Beginner Skateboarder?

Hey, I really want to skateboard and found one in my garage. It works fine (I oiled the wheels) and I've been playing around with it a lot in my basement. While I was down there I saw my scooter and rode that as well. When I scooter, it comes so much more naturally to me and its just all around easier.

My main question is this:
Is it possible that I am just not naturally able to skateboard well?

With things like rollerblading, scooter, ice skating, etc. it has all come pretty naturally or semi-naturally. After half an hour of practice it's hard for me to make real turns (not just leaning) and go about with ease...

Is it just me, or is the beginning of skateboarding hard for most people?

Practice, Practice, Practice! It all comes down to desire! Sounds like you don't have any physical handicaps preventing you from continuing to learn - already good at similar sports. Some things, like skateboarding, require different movements and points of balance. Just practice all the time when you can and as you get better you might want to buy a new skateboard that will match your improving abilities.

Skateboarding is very hard for all beginners alot of the tricks just feel unnatural at first, i have been skateboarding for around 5 years and everything feels alot more fluent then when i started, all you can do is practice.

Don't worry it doesn't really come naturally top anyone you just have to practice,it can take some time to learn but once you learn you'll love it.glad to see more girls skating!

It takes alot of people weeks to stand up on the damn thing, just practice crusin around and you'll get it down. Also make sure the trucks are lose or tight enough for you
