What is a good starter SPORT bike for a female 5'0 even?

I have searched high and low for the ninja 250's but they seem to be sold out everywhere in the state of GA...so any suggestions for a new rider besides the ninja 250.

Please don't tell me anything about any other bike but a sport bike...i am not interested in a touring bike or cruiser...

depends on your price range...

you can have the seat shaved, and suspention lowered on any sport bike to make it fit your needs...

my personal favorite among the mid-size sport bikes is the cbr600RR, there is nothing hotter than a short redhead in full tight leathers on a lowered sport bike...

There are no good sport bikes for someone 5'0. The seat height on most sport bikes will be too high.

For someone your size, the most important thing to consider is seat height. You have to be able to balance the bike while stopped in traffic. Best if you can sit and put both feet flat on the ground. With a seat too high, you will only be able to put one foot on the ground. You may be forced to lean the bike to the side and can easily lose your balance and drop the bike.

Honda Shadow VLX. It has the lowest seat height that I have seen, 25.6". This is a small cruiser. This is a 538 CC liquid cooled V-twin. It should have plenty of power for you. I would go to a dealer and sit on one first and see how well you can put both feet on the ground while stopped. They sell new for $5500. You may be able to find a good used one if this is too much.

If you want something with a smaller engine, the Honda Rebel has a 234CC engine. It has a 26.6" heat height. They go new for about $3200. They have been around a while so you might be able to find a good used one. This is also considered a small cruiser.

The Yamaha Star V-Star 250 might be acceptable with a seat height of 27" This is a cruiser style V-twin. But this may be pushing the limit for someone with short legs. These sell new for about $3700.

The Honda Night Hawk has a smaller engine at 234CC, but has a higher seat at 29.3" This may be too high.

Some people might say the Kawasaki Ninja 250R. However this bike has a seat height of 30.5". This would be a poor choice for someone with short legs.

Get yourself enrolled in a motorcycle safety course.

The more experienced riders are being ultra conservative in always recommending the 250 as a starter. Online is the only place I've seen this. On the road and in the sportbike community, everybody knows a 600 is a starter bike. If you have completed an MSF course and have a mature mind set, starting a 600 is no problem.

Try a used Katana to start with. Perfect starter bike for any female.

Edit: Your height isn't a factor. Every sport bike can be lowered to accomodate your cuteness. Hope you get rolling in time for the All female Sport Bike Weekend in Atlanta coming up this month.

Watch out for Hyosung, their a tricky bunch.

Try a Katana 600, or a Ninja 500R if you can't find a Ninja 250. Always start riding offroad, whether it be supermoto or a dirtbike. That way if you fall then there isn't a Prius behind you. After learning the basics go to a MSF safety course.

Figure out if you want a sportbike or sport tourer btw.

Sport bikes are not what you start with.

as short as you are, id go around and sit on every one and see if any will let you stand flat footed.

If ya can hold it up, no use buying it.

cbr 600, gsxr 600, r6, there all 600 cc.. im 16 5'8 160 lbs and i LOVE the cbr 600. perfect starter bike. lots of power but cruises nicely

A Hyosung 250GT will run with a ninja and cost less. It is a well made quality machine. It is not one of the cheap imports flooding the market

Take a look at the Buell Blast,

MY BIKE THAT I STARTED ON AND STILL HAVE TO THIS DAY IS THE HONDA CBR RR600..ITS LIGHT AND FAST
