Sport bike my first vehicle?

im getting my license soon and want to get a good vehicle that gets alot of miles per gallon because i dont want to waste all my money on gas dring around. should i get the 2009 kawasaki ninja 250r for my first vehicle? are they easy to turn on? i have only seen them turn when they lean over to the left or right. a ninja 250r should be fine with long distances like highway and things like that?

Really, I think a car would be a better purchase for your first vehicle, especially since you sound like you have not ridden much at all. If you really want a bike, take a safety course first. They provide the bike, and you can get a pretty good feel for it. Then think about getting one for yourself.
Good luck, my friend.

A 250 will get great gas mileage and handles just fine at low speeds too when you get used to it.
A 250 is really whining at highway speeds. You can do it just fine, but it's not the most comfortable long trip.
Personally, I would buy a used 500 or 600cc bike in the $3000 to $4000 range.
By next year when you've outgrown it and want a bigger bike, you won't take a bath on the trade-in.
You'll want more than the 250 has to offer in no time, so it's a bit of a waste to buy it new.

I agree that a motorcycle for your first vehicle is a mistake. Statistically speaking, new drivers make a lot of dumb mistakes, and it's better to do those in a car.

Also, since the leaning thing seems novel to you, it's not a bad idea to learn to ride a bicycle before you buy a motorcycle.

BTW, I have a car and a motorcycle. Both are 4 cylinder Hondas that make ~100hp... and the car gets better gas mileage, overall. Cars have better aerodynamics at highway speed.

A ninja 250 would beat most cars, though.

Okay this is what I think. I am turning 15 soon and my first vehicle is going to be a 2009 Kawasaki ninja 250r. But my family rides bikes all over. And when you turn 15 in Texas you can so I am!! I know the Kawasaki ninja 250r's are fine for long distances b/c my bro had one and we went everywhere like Vermont and places far away!! But if you are just going to need it to get to school and work and where you go, what happens if it rains? You have to think of everything before you get it. Now I鈥檓 not telling you not to get one or to get one. I鈥檓 just telling you to think about.

Good Luck
Jessie

I wouldnt buy a bike as my first and sole vehicle. You need to learn to drive the right way in a car first. I bought a bike for fuel mileage and it does do alot better than my truck but i wouldnt want to be without my pickup. Im not a big fan of kids on sportbikes anyway. they things are built for racing and that leads to bulletproof young idiots killing themselves or others. Cars are bad enough.

no you should get a car or truck first to learn the rules of the road. At least get a car AND a bike not just a bike. Having a bike as an only vehicle sucks anyways. on't get a 2009, get an older ex250 and an older pickup.

Whoa lil buddy. You seriously need t take a motorcycle safety class. They are not remedial and are always fun. Your life depends on it. Ninja 250R is perfect for you. they turn easy
